This is an intermediate to advanced master class study series in vinyasa. It is advanced in philosophy and quality of movement. We explore 3 basic moods of yoga: Shanti (Peace), Vira (Heroic Strength of a Warrior), and Sringara (Sensual-love). This 4-week series takes place Thursdays 11/29 to 12/20 from 5:30 to 6:45pm.

Anxiety & Depression Management through Ayurveda and Yoga Workshop Series

In this 2-part series, we will target the energetic imbalance often implicated in anxiety and certain types of depression.* It comes down to this: Yoga and Ayurveda practices are meant to move energy in specific, purposeful ways. Only certain practices are appropriate for you as a unique individual, and knowing which ones are beneficial for you can help in ways you never thought possible. This is the core of Vedic knowledge, which is thousands of years old and encompasses all meditation, mindfulness, and Ayurvedic knowledge to date.

Through lecture and discussion we will explore the Ayurvedic pathology of mental and emotional imbalance as well as how imbalance can trigger physical disease. In our practice sessions, learn the techniques that can rewire the energetic body towards balance.

Class I: September 25th, 7-9pm

Introduction to Ayurveda For Mental and Emotional Balance: Mostly lecture with some breathing and meditation practice

Class II: October 2nd, 7-9pm:

Chakra Prana Vinyasa Study Series + Master Class

Six-Week Study Series on Tuesdays and Thursdays

October 2- November 8th, 2018 at 5:30pm

 

Learn how to create a chakra, or wheel, from your vinyasa practice while diving into the energy of the 7 chakras. We will explore movements, moods, and mantras that churn the energy of each center in this level 1/2 Prana Flow Vinyasa study series.

Prana Flow Vinyasa is movement alchemy, transforming all stress and contraction into the flow of bliss. With roots in the Krishnamacharya lineage, as well as living Ayurveda (medicinal sister science to yoga), Tantra (a path of expanding consciousness towards bliss), Bhakti (the path of love and devotion), Kalarippayatu (embodied martial art), and the universal forms of yoga practiced by every culture, Prana Vinyasa will bring more flow, fluidity, empowerment, and regeneration to your life. Master yogini Shiva Rea created this new evolution of yoga after diving deeply into traditional practice.

Solar classes (more externally activating) will be Tuesdays and Lunar classes (learning the meditative inner arts) will be held Thursdays. You can attend both days or just one.

Solar classes will heat you up and train your body to be strong enough to allow the full energy of life express itself through your embodiment. Lunar classes will include more seated postures and emphasize opening to life by surrendering to the present moment. Prana Vinyasa is generally moderate to slow paced compared to other traditions, but is quite difficult nevertheless. Great care is given to proper alignment through energetic forces (vayus) as well as “moods” or the bhav in Sanskrit. After every class you will leave feeling much more relaxed, peaceful, and more integrated in your embodiment.

Week 1: Proper introduction to vinyasa, including essential breathing techniques and proper form in a “vinyasa” as a transition possibility (including chaturanga, upward dog and downward dog). Introduction to Chakras as Wheels of Energy in the body. Introduction to Mandala Vinyasa (using vinyasa to move in a circle.)

Week 2: Muladhara Chakra (Essentials for living and Safety)

Week 3: Svadhistana Chakra (Sexual Energy/Seat of the Self)

Week 4: Manipura Chakra (Power and Will)
Week 5: Anahata Chakra (Relationships and Love)

Week 6: Visshuda Chakra (Expression and Creativity), Ajna Chakra (Discernment and Intuition), Sahasrara Chakra (Connection to All)

Soma Prana Vinyasa Study Series + Master Class

Soma is the relaxing and rejuvenating nectar of the moon. These yoga classes will be slow and dripping with relaxation– like honey. You will learn how to use movement as an alchemical process, transforming all stress into resonant bliss. Soma vinyasa is what restorative yoga would be if it was movement based.
 
Thursdays from 5:30-6:30pm. This is a 4-week series that begins July 26th and ends August 16th, 2018.

Students should be comfortable being on their knees for this practice. This is gentle but flow based, so moderate mobility is recommended. The postures will be appropriate for all levels.
